Random observation

So I bought some new socks at Target. If my husband or family ever actually read my blog, then they would be posting a big AMEN to that. I am constantly being made fun of for my socks with holes. Hey...why throw them out when no one sees them?

Anyway, I bought a pack of Hanes socks. Let me ask this...why on EARTH are the socks in a zip lock back? Do people store their socks in this bag? Is that what I have been doing wrong all these years when I just dump them in the washer and then throw them in my drawer when clean?

Let it snow!!!!!

Everyone say a prayer for snow!!!! There is a SLIGHT chance of snow this Friday and that is all I am asking for. Ethan is dreaming about snow and looks out the window every morning. Then he says "Mom, it didn't snow yet." I keep telling him that it doesn't snow very much in Arkansas, but he is still determined to see snow.

He wrote a note in his room that says "Ethan Kailey is about to see winter." Come on, just ONE snow day is all I'm asking for. Here's what he has been talking about doing when it snows: running in it, making a snow angel and throwing a snowball at Reece (what a big brother thing to say).

Everyone do a snow dance for Ethan.

I'm a Heifer!

I know my title is a little confusing. Yes, I am a Heifer, you did not read that wrong. Those who have seen my hips lately are definitely agreeing with that statement right now but that is not what I am talking about. Let me explain:

A year ago my friends and I were introduced to my favorite group of people: the Scrappin' Heifers. This is a weekend long (Friday at 9am-Sunday at 5pm) scrapbooking retreat at the Heifer Project in Perryville AR. They have been getting together there for many years now and have two weekends a year.

We have been twice and I just returned today after scrapping since Friday at 9 am. My group were the first ones to arrive and almost the last ones to leave. Anyone who scrapbooks knows how hard it is to find time to get all of your stuff out and work on your scrapbook. This weekend is perfect because you get to leave it all out on your table and work on it non-stop.

The Heifer weekend is much much more than just working on your scrapbook. It is a weekend to get away from the daily routine, a time to visit with friends, and a time to relax. It is a weekend to talk, smile and laugh. It is a weekend to spend time with friends and actually be able to complete conversations since kids aren't there to take up our attention. It's a weekend to see friends we have made at previous weekends and catch up. It's a weekend to make new friends. It's a weekend to be away from the daily grind and a weekend to focus on me. Best of all, it's a weekend to be reminded of how blessed my life is and how lucky I am for all I have been given.

The "Heifer" group is an amazing group of women. They are women of all ages, women from different places, and women of faith. It is so fun to sit and visit with other Moms and talk about our kids, laugh about the things they say and do & realize that we are all in this together. I cannot say enough about the fun that I have at this weekend. I look forward to it, am sad when it is over and then know that in 6 months I get to go again!!!

Our table tends to be quite the rowdy group and boy was that true again this time. My throat is so sore from talking for just about 72 hours straight....I did sleep probably a total of 9-10 hours this weekend. Here are some things I have learned:

My house is not the only house that has a "5:00 melt down." I thought it was just me

My husband is amazing and managed to stay sane with my boys, take them to Playworld (brave), do all the laundry, and have a great weekend with me away.

Sonic workers get a little tired of the same group and same order 25 times a day x 3 straight days.

A weekend where you don't take your slippers off (even on Sonic runs) is a good weekend.

Heifers do not judge if you do not shower or do not wear make-up.

Every woman should sleep in a bunk bed for a weekend.

Humming "My Country Tis of Thee" as loud as you can in the shower does not make the water any warmer or help numb the pain of the ice cold water. It also reminds your friends of how odd you are.

It's not every day that look out the window and see a giant herd of sheep going by the window.

I left the weekend with a renewed spirit, a refreshed mind, 24 scrapbook pages, two tired eyes, two paper cuts and probably about 5 extra pounds. I am proud to be a Heifer!
